Name: Intensity
Motivation: Wheeled
Speed: Low gearing @ 12.889KMH(7.8MPH), High gearing @ 53.69KMH(33.55MPH)
Weight: 96.10kg
Height: 95mm
Length: 840mm
Width: 915mm
Ground Clearance: 8mm under body, 0mm all the way around due to Hardox skirting
Weapon: The weapon is based on the Team Whyachi's 'Red Square' which is a torque spring tensioned and suddenly released with a coupling to a flipping mechanism. The torque spring method used in Intensity is much more simpler and more reliable then the one used in 'Red Square'. The mechanism is two S28-150 Magmotors @ 36v geared 100:1 through a single stage 3:1 spur gearing which is connected to a dual stage planetary gearbox which turns the final output helix spline shaft to retract and tension the spring. To lock the spring, a solinoid locking rachet has been built into the final stage of the planetary gearbox, which holds the spring tensioned till the solinoid is activated and releases the hold on the helix spline thread allowing it to unspool and fire the flipper. The torque is very heafty andwith the flipping ratios will flip with a final force of 450kg, enough to send a 100kg robot head over heals quickly. The flipper takes 1.4 seconds to rectract and be ready for a second shot.
Drive: The drive consists of 8 Dustin motors. Each motor is over volted to 36v which produces 2.26HP per motor. Due to running the higher voltage, the motors have been current limited to 120amps which reduces the motors to 1.5HP each, producing a significant 12HP combined. The Dustin motors based upon the Dewalt Hammerdrills have a two speed gearbox, a low gearing of 51:1 which will make travel at a slow but high torque 12.88KMH(7.8MPH) which is enough torque to push the best of pushybots, in the high gearing of 11:1 will boost Intensity up to landspeed record of 53.69KMH(33.1MPH) with a loss in torque in pushing, but will still have the power to push most bots around running on basic Magmotor drives and Bosch setups.
Batteries: 8 x 18v 3600mAh NiCD Battlepacks producing 26v @ 14400mAh supply (Enough for 10mins of solid driving, plus weapon activation)
Monocoque (Chassis/Armour): The monocoque (chassis & armour combined) is a fully welded Hardox 500 5mm chassis (base plate is Hardox 450 3.2mm to maintain ground clearance). The top covers are bolted in using a series of 12 M14 bolts per top plate. This monocoque is designed to take a pound from the sides, above and even below! This is the heaviest part of the robot, due to the extreme strength and protection in the construction.
Electronics: Runs a RoboWars.org BMC speed controller with Hitec Focus SS-3 75mhz PCM 3ch Radio and a 3-axis computer Gyro for maxium control and handling. Uses 150amp rated Anderson power pole connectors and locking pins. Electronics are shock mounted and mounting in a floating style encased in HD (High Density) foam.
Notes: Can selfright via the torque spring flipper.
